Fla. Days Residential Development
The Florida Days major site plan was a project that required an analysis to determine the impact of this new development on a major County throughfare. Professional Planners & Engineers, Inc., a subsidiary of TGI, was contracted to assist in this project’s quest to obtain approval from both the City of New Smyrna Beach and Volusia County Traffic Engineering dept. As a result of our analysis, we were able to prove that traffic entering and exiting this future development will not trigger the requirement to construct left-turn and excel/decel lanes, thereby saving the client close to a million dollars in infrastructure improvements.
I-95 Interchange @ Pioneer Trail PD&E Study
The PD&E study for the I-95 Interchange @ Pioneer Trail was a contraversal study funded by the District Five Florida Dept. of Transportation. This project has been a “needs” plan project dated back decades. The project was resurrected back in 2008 as a needed improvement due to a major residential development located along Williamson Blvd, a north-south facility intersecting with Pioneer Trial Blvd. Professional Planners & Engineers was contracted by a group of concern citizen organizations to review and analyze the IJR (Interchange Justification Report) for the interchange project. As a result of our analysis we were able to identify several inaccuracies and flawed assumptions throughout the report that were used to justify the design and construction of this major project.
Sandra Homes CPA
The Sandra Homes CPA TIA was a project performed by Mr. Collins to analyze the transportation impact from this comprehensive plan amendment. This project involved determining the level of service (LOS) of the current network, as well as, the future transportation network. The process began by running the adopted Volusia County MPO transportation model by using modified traffic analsis zone data and the adopted MPO Five-Year Transportation Improvement Program list of projects. The analsis produced an MS Excel table that listed the current and future year traffic and the corresponding LOS for that particular facility.
